POSTGRADUATE GUIDELINES

TRAUMA POSTING  (Year 1-2)

During the first 6 months of training, every candidate should prepare for the Part I masters examination except for those exempted. The Part 1 masters examination involves basic science and basic surgery. Details are enclosed in the section on “Exam Regulations”.

 

Trainees are still required to perform their duties during this time.

 

While successful candidates are allowed to continue training and sit for the final examination at the end of their training, unsuccessful candidates are required to repeat the Part I exam which is conducted every 6 months. A total of three attempts are allowed for each candidate after which they will be asked to leave the Masters programme. An appeal may be made through University Senate based on exceptional circumstances.

SUB-SPECIALIZED POSTING  (Year 3-4)

Training in Orthopaedic Surgery including rotation through the following subspecialties and a research report:

 

  1. Spinal Surgery

  2. Orthopaedic Oncology

  3. Paediatric Orthopaedics

  4. Upper Limb and Reconstructive and Microsurgery

  5. Arthroscopy sports and Joint  Reconstructive Surgery

  6. Arthroplasty

  7. Orthopaedic Traumatology

  8. Limb Lengthening and Reconstructive  Surgery
